Michael Amos, cello
Cellist Michael Amos currently resides in Tampa, Florida, where he graduated with both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Cello Performance from the University of South Florida where he studied under cellist Scott Kluksdahl.
Michael is a featured soloist with Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, most notably in their performance and production of their recored album “Light of the Midnight Sun.” Michael has also been featured as a soloist with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra in his performance of the Dvorak Cello Concerto. An avid performer of chamber music, Michael plays with the Florida-based St. Pete Baroque Ensemble and EnsembleSRQ located in St. Petersburg and Sarasota. In previous years, Michael has attended the Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival in Keene, New Hampshire, as well as the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont, where he was featured as an Emerging Artist.
Michael currently serves as Principal Cello with the internationally acclaimed Hollywood Festival Orchestra that tours throughout both China and Japan. Michael also plays with The Florida Orchestra, the Sarasota Orchestra, Opera Tampa, among others throughout the state. Michael currently serves as the Adjunct Professor of Cello at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, and is thrilled to join SMC's faculty this Fall.
